Aaftab Poonawala, accused of killing and chopping his partner Shraddha Walkar into 35 pieces, will undergo polygraph test today as well, the Tihar Jail administration said on Monday.
On Monday, Poonawala underwent polygraph test at the Forensic Science Laboratory in Delhi's Rohini. He had undergone the first session of the test last Tuesday, but had fallen ill a day later. Thereafter, Poonawala was taken for subsequent sessions on Thursday and Friday.
Poonawala is currently in 13-day judicial custody as ordered by a Delhi court last Saturday. He is currently lodged in jail number four at Tihar prison, monitored round the clock using CCTV cameras on apprehensions that he could harm himself.
He was arrested on November 12 wherein he allegedly told the police about how he killed his partner Shraddha Walkar on May 18 at their Chhattarpur apartment. He chopped her body into 35 pieces and then stored it in his fridge for close to three months before dumping them in places across South Delhi.
Here are five big developments which unfolded on Monday in the Shraddha Walkar murder case.
1. The police van which was carrying Aaftab Poonawala was attacked by sword-wielding men claiming to be from Hindu Sena outside the Forensic Science Laboratory. Videos circulating on social media showed the attackers wielding swords as they tried to enter the police van. The Delhi Police has detained attackers from the spot.
2. Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta said that through police and media reports he has learnt that the people who attacked the police van carrying Aaftab Poonawala were members of the outfit. "They could be members of our group but what they did was their own/personal step and not of the Hindu Sena," said Gupta.
3. The Delhi Police have recovered some weapons with which Poonawala had chopped Shraddha's body into 35 pieces. However, the investigators have not revealed what weapons were recovered and from which locations.
4. The police have also recovered a ring which the accused had taken from Shraddha's body and gifted to his new female friend, whom he had befriended through a dating app. The new female friend is a psychologist, and is believed to have dated Aaftab. She was recently interrogated by the Delhi Police.
