GMDA conducts drills to check flood readiness in Gurugram
GMDA conducted drills at Gurugram's underpasses to test pumping systems and prevent waterlogging, with plans for more tests across 23 locations in 10 days.
Gurugram: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) conducted drills at the Shankar Chowk underpass and the DLF Phase-1 underpass on Friday to assess the functioning and efficiency of the installed pumping machinery and check waterlogging at the crucial locations.
The city has 23 underpasses under the jurisdiction of different agencies, and the GMDA has planned to conduct drills at all these locations in the next 10 days. (HT)

A GMDA spokesperson said that during the exercise at the Shankar Chowk underpass, officials tested two 16 HP pumps and two 7.5 HP pumps.
“A similar drill was carried out at the DLF Phase-1 underpass, where four 35 HP pumps were checked and found to be working properly,” said the GMDA spokesperson.
As per the plan, the drills will be held at Subhash Chowk and Shankar Chowk, followed by IFFCO Chowk (May 18); Signature Tower and Vatika Chowk (May 19); Rajiv Chowk, Medanta Road and HUDA City Centre (May 20); Hero Honda Chowk and Genpact (May 21); Sector 110/113 and Sector 109/110 (May 26); Sector 102/104 (May 28); and Sector 84/36B(May 29).
