Gurugram: Man assaults wife, tries to kill brother for protecting her; booked
The complainant alleged in the FIR that the suspect is a habitual drinker and assaults his wife and other members of the family, including his father, frequently
Gurugram: Police have booked a man for allegedly trying to kill his younger brother twice within a few hours on Saturday after he intervened and saved the former’s wife from getting assaulted at their Gurugram’s Sector 9 house on Saturday, said the officials on Sunday.

Police have identified the injured victim as Anil Kumar, 27, and the suspect as Naresh Kumar alias Rinku, 38 — both residents of Devi Lal Colony in Sector 9.
The suspect is still on the run, said the police.
Anil, who is into garment trading business, owns a shop at Arjun Nagar in Sector 8, and the elder brother — Naresh — is unemployed due to his liquor addiction, according to the police.
Police said that Naresh had allegedly stabbed Anil with a kitchen knife in his left hand around 3.30pm on Saturday after he saved his sister-in-law — Kavita Devi — from being assaulted by the former. Naresh threatened Kavita and Anil of dire consequences and escaped, however, he returned home with a loaded countrymade pistol after six hours and opened fire at Anil, injuring him.
Anil suffered bullet injuries in both his thighs and private parts, said the police, adding that the victim, who has a four-month-old son, was taken to a nearby government hospital in Sector 10, but he is still in a critical condition as the bleeding has not stopped as of Sunday evening.
Based on a complaint filed by Anil, a case has been registered against Naresh under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 506 (criminal intimidation), and relevant sections of The Arms Act at the Sector 9A police station on Sunday.
Anil alleged in the FIR that on Saturday afternoon, Naresh’s seven-year-old daughter had informed the former that her father had locked their bedroom and was assaulting her mother. Anil somehow managed to open the door of the room and got Kavita out of there. In the meantime, Naresh stabbed Anil with a kitchen knife for protecting Kavita, Anil alleged in the FIR.
“Naresh was highly inebriated when he was assaulting Kavita... None of us thought that he would return home that night. He opened fire at me through a gap in the door and a bullet hit me. He also waited outside the house for a few minutes, so that he could kill me if I went out. He escaped after we informed the police about the incident, and also our neighbours started gathering outside the house after hearing the gunshots,” Anil said.
Anil also alleged that “Naresh is a habitual drinker and assaults his wife, and other members of the family, including their father, frequently. “We had recently got to know that he was also married to another woman,” Anil alleged.
Inspector Sanjay Kumar, station house officer (SHO) of Sector 9A police station, said that the police were conducting searches to nab Naresh. “Naresh has a history of assaulting people, including his family members, in a fit of rage and in inebriated condition. We are trying to nab him at the earliest,” he said, adding that a further investigation is underway.
