Left midway by auto driver, Odisha man carries wife’s body on shoulders; Police extend help
The man, identified as Samulu Pangi, was returning from a hospital in Andhra Pradesh with his ailing wife when she died midway in an auto-rickshaw. Pangi had admitted his wife to a hospital in Sangivalasa of Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh.
A 35-year-old man from Odisha's Koraput district carried his wife’s body on his shoulders after an auto-rickshaw driver dropped him midway while returning from a hospital in in Andhra Pradesh. Alerted by locals, the police reached the spot and arranged for an ambulance to help him reach his home in neighboring Odisha's Sorada village.
According to doctors, Ide Guru, aged 30, was not responding to the treatment and advised him to her back home.
The man, identified as Samulu Pangi, was returning from a hospital in Andhra Pradesh with his ailing wife when she died midway in an auto-rickshaw. Pangi had admitted his wife to a hospital in Sangivalasa of Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh.
However, the doctors said that his wife, Ide Guru, aged 30, was not responding to the treatment and advised him to her back home.
To return to his village, which was around 100 kilometers away, he hired an auto-rickshaw. But the driver dropped them on Chelluru Ring Road after his wife died midway near Vizianagaram. With no option left and still 80 kilometers away from his home, he started walking with his wife’s body on his shoulder.
Alerted by locals, the Andhra police officials reached the spot and stopped him. It took them a while to ascertain what Pangi was trying to say because of the language barrier but someone who understood what the Odisha man was conveying helped the police. Soon, an ambulance was arranged to help Pangi along with his wife’s body reach their village.
