Earlier, this service was started with the introduction of 5 e-vehicles on the main campus on December 30, 2021 when vice chancellor prof Alok Kumar Rai completed two years of his tenure at the university.

Prof Rai, who initiated this service especially for the physically challenged students, faculty and staff who had to otherwise walk long distance to reach different departments and offices, said the extension of this service was always in the pipeline as the second campus has a number of institutes and offices and also to ensure that it retains the ‘green campus’ status.

“The service was started with one e-rickshaw the number of which will be raised in the days to come. This facility will ensure the safety and security of the campus as vehicles will soon have a parking area,” he said.

The e-rikshaw will be managed by the office of the dean student welfare. Prof Poonam Tandon, DSW said “It is very satisfying to see the rickshaws being utilized by the needy. It is also a proud moment to see the same facility being extended to the second campus.”

Additional dean, second campus prof Vineeta Kachar along with her team members were present to mark the occasion.
