‘Hausla’ sports meet concludes with gymnastics, dance performance

Prizes were awarded for powerlifting and bocce on the final day. Sudha Bajpai, chairperson of the event, announced that the ‘Hausla’ games will be back next year, and will be conducted on a national scale.

The 6th annual state-level sports meet ‘Hausla’ for specially-abled children taking place at KD Singh Babu stadium, concluded on Tuesday. On the second and final day of the competitions, the students took part in athletics, bocce and powerlifting contests.

Additional chief secretary, sports, Navneet Sehgal was the special guest at the event. Divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob and Olympian Lalit Upadhyay were among other dignitaries present on the occasion.

The ACS also joined the children in celebratory dances on the field, and they were soon joined by other guests. Children from Sarosa Bharosa village primary school performed gymnastics display at the event as well.

Prizes were awarded for powerlifting and bocce on the final day. Ichha Patel, 18, wowed the audience by lifting 180 kgs and earned a gold in her category. Sudha Bajpai, chairperson of the event, announced that the ‘Hausla’ games will be back next year, and will be conducted on a national scale.

The event was convened after a gap of two years and children from 24 schools participated in this multi-discipline event.
