The deceased, 50, a permanent resident of Kamalapur Jairampur of Sitapur district, was a farmer. On Friday morning, his elder son’s health deteriorated due to sudden chest pain. When he was taken to a private hospital, the doctors declared him dead.

“He was shocked due to my brother’s death. He reached home after taking the dead body from the hospital, and then went to the room and killed himself,” said the younger brother of the deceased.

“He shot himself through his chin with a licensed rifle and died immediately,” said the bereaved son, adding that his father had even collapsed in hospital on hearing the news of his brother’s death.

“Hearing the sound of the gun shot, family members rushed in and found the man lying in blood with a gun nearby. He was immediately taken to the hospital where the doctors declared him dead,” he added.

The man is survived by his younger son and wife.
