The director of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) - a constituent government college of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) - Prof Vineet Kansal has been removed from the post following a complaint over qualifications in his appointment as a professor.

Vandana Sehgal, dean and principal, faculty of architecture and planning, has been given additional charge of IET till the completion of inquiry while Kansal will work as professor in MCA department.
Confirming the news, AKTU vice-chancellor, Prof PK Mishra said, “There were complaints against Prof Kansal not having necessary qualifications and not fulfilling the conditions to become a professor. A three-member inquiry committee has been formed to look into the charges. Prof Kansal was removed only to ensure that he does not influence the inquiry.”
A three-member committee has been constituted to look into the qualification and eligibility of Prof Kansal. The committee comprises director of Government Engineering College, Sonbhadra, Prof GS Tomar, IIT Roorkee Prof Sandeep Singh and Prof RP Tiwari of MNNIT Allahabad. The committee was asked to investigate all aspects and submit a report.
Prof Kansal was considered close to former AKTU vice-chancellor Prof Vinay Kumar Pathak against whom an FIR was lodged by the CBI in a graft case. Prof Kansal has also been the vice-chancellor of AKTU after Pathak stepped down from the post of V-C.
An official said that according to information, Prof Kansal had been appointed as professor in the MCA course. It is said that Prof Kansal does not meet the qualification prescribed by AICTE for appointment to the post of professor.
When contacted Prof Kansal did not take the phone call.
