Nod to ₹15,950 crore proposals to set up 4 data centre parks in UP
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath presides over cabinet meeting; govt also approves policy for making the state a hub of aircraft repair
LUCKNOW The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday approved proposals to set up four data centre parks with an investment of over ₹15,950 crore in the state and also gave a nod to the policy for making the state a hub of aircraft repair.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath presided over the meeting of the cabinet that approved the proposals.
Briefing media persons about the state cabinet’s decisions, PWD minister Jitin Prasada said the four data centre parks would generate about 4,000 direct and indirect jobs.
Under the Data Center Policy-2021,the data centre parks being set up in Noida region include one by NIDP Developers Private Limited of the Hiranandani Group. The other three are being set up by NTT Global Data Centres and Cloud Infrastructure India Private Limited, Adani Enterprises Limited Project-1 and Adani Enterprises Limited Project-II, he said.
A large amount of data is generated by social media, banking, retail, health, tourism, transport and other sectors. As of now, most of the data is stored out of India. The state government had worked out the Data Centre Policy- 2021 and set a target of attracting investment of ₹20,000 crore to develop at least three modern data centres in the private sector. The data centre policy provides for capital subsidy, interest subsidy and exemption from stamp duty etc.
DEVELOPMENT OF MRO FACILITIES
The state cabinet approved a policy for the development of maintenance, repair and overhauling (MRO) facilities for aircraft in UP. At present, due to the absence of MRO establishment in India, aircraft are sent for repair to places like Singapore and Dubai, where repairs are costly and time-consuming. In India, some MRO works are carried out in Hyderabad and Bangalore. The state has potential of setting up MRO facilities and there are indications that 1,000 new aeroplanes will be added in India by 2026. The new policy is expected to lead to setting up of MRO facilities in the state, revenue generation and creation of a large number of jobs. This would also lead to development of the MSME sector and save foreign exchange.
MoU for construction of 300 RoBs
The cabinet also gave nod to a proposal for signing of memorandum of understanding between the union government and the state government for construction of railway over bridges (RoBs) through funding from the central road infrastructure fund. This will pave way for the construction of 300 RoBs. The PWD minister has been authorized for any amendment/clarification in the MoU.
35 cr saplings for plantation
The cabinet approved a proposal to provide 35 crore free saplings in 2022-2023 to government departments and others from various nurseries of forest, climate change and environment departments. The free saplings will also be given for plantation in court premises, union government’s departments, to farmers, individuals, private and government educational institutions, public sector undertakings, local bodies, cooperative societies and industry.
Assistance for drip, sprinkler irrigation
The cabinet gave its nod to a proposal to provide additional state assistance (top up) to encourage drip and sprinkler irrigation under Per Drop More Crop (minor irrigation) Programme from 2022-2023 to 2026-2027.
Small and marginal farmers would be given 90% subsidy while 80% subsidy will be given to other farmers. Besides the state’s share of mandatory subsidy, an additional top-up 35% subsidy will be given to small and marginal farmers.
Distribution of foodgrains, etc
The cabinet approved a proposal for expenditure of ₹3196.81 crore for free distribution of foodgrains, iodised salt, whole gram and refined soyabeen oil among Antibody and family card holders in Uttar Pradesh.
Allowances for home guards
The cabinet also gave nod to a proposal to give to Home Guards all the allowances during approved trainings. The allowances to be given during approved training will be equivalent to the allowances given to them when on duty. It may be mentioned that Home Guards are given an allowance of ₹786 per day when on duty. They were being given an allowance of only ₹260 per day when sent on training.
Development of Shrangverpur dham
For development of tourism in Prayagraj, the cabinet approved a proposal to carry out works of higher specifications in Nishadraj Park phase-1 in Shrangverpur Dham. The work includes ornamental stone work for wall lining, ornamental stone work for arch design, granite flooring and stone cladding etc. A sum of ₹3.68 crore has been approved for the job.
Swamitva Yojana
The state cabinet gave its nod to a proposal to continue documentation and survey work under the Swamitva Yojana in villages that have been transferred to urban local bodies recently.
