Delhi-bound IndiGo flight makes emergency landing in Lucknow after passenger falls ill

A Bangkok-Delhi IndiGo flight made an emergency landing at Lucknow airport late Saturday night after a passenger suddenly fell ill mid-air, prompting the crew to alert the pilot and seek medical assistance at the nearest suitable airport.

IndiGo flight 6E-1054, which departed Bangkok around 8.15pm and was scheduled to reach Delhi at about 11.10pm, was diverted to Lucknow after the passenger’s condition deteriorated during the flight, according to airport sources.

The cabin crew informed the pilot about the medical emergency. The pilot subsequently contacted Lucknow Air Traffic Control (ATC) and sought permission for an emergency landing. The aircraft landed at Lucknow airport around 11.05pm, sources said.

A medical emergency team and an ambulance were on standby at the airport. The unwell passenger was deboarded and shifted to a private hospital in Gomti Nagar for treatment.

The unexpected diversion briefly caused concern among passengers, who remained inside the aircraft while the medical emergency was handled and necessary procedures were completed.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about an hour before resuming its journey to Delhi at around 12.05am.
