Bevli, who is known as the Plogman of India for introducing the concept of plogging that is a combination of jogging and picking up litter, is in Lucknow to make people aware about shunning single-use-plastic (SUP) from their lives.

“One person uses 700 plastic bags in a year on an average. Imagine how many such bags would be used per year by about 8 billion people across the globe,” said Bevli, who will kick-start the five-day SUP free Uttar Pradesh campaign beginning Wednesday.

The campaign is organised by forest department.

“I have done plog runs in 106 cities and till now one crore people have joined me,” said Bevli, who hails from New Delhi.

He said, “Any one going out on morning walk or run can carry a big bag and collect plastic waste. Later, this can be dumped at municipal waste sites making your jogging path cleaner every passing day. You can convince five people to do the same and they can further convince five others making an army of plog runners,” he said.
