Ravidas Jayanti: CM Yogi pays glowing tributes to saint-poet

Yogi congratulated the disciples and devotees of Sant Ravidas and said Ravidasji gave a very broad message of karma to the society by coining the popular saying in Hindi ‘Man Changa To Kathauti Mein Ganga’.

VARANASI: UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath and some other VVIPs paid tributes to saint-poet Ravidas, on his 646th birth anniversary, in his birth place Seer Govardhanpur on Sunday. The CM also conveyed the message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Yogi congratulated the disciples and devotees of Sant Ravidas and said Ravidasji gave a very broad message of karma to the society by coining the popular saying in Hindi ‘Man Changa To Kathauti Mein Ganga’. The chief minister also met Sadguru Niranjan Das and read out the message sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The CM said: “Today is a very auspicious day. Six hundred and forty six years ago, a divine light, who had achieved success through his penance and spiritual practice in the company of Sadguru Ramanand Ji Maharaj, a renowned saint of the then devotional path, manifested on this holy land of Kashi. Today, it is clearly visible to all of us how the path for the welfare of humanity is being paved as a gift of that achievement. Today, first of all, on behalf of the central and state governments, I congratulate all the devotees and all the well-wishers associated with Seer Govardhan. We all know that along with devotion, Sadguru always gave importance to ‘Karmasadhna’ (hard work).”

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former UP chief minister Mayawati, however, took a dig on CM paying tribute to Sadguru Ravidas, stating that bowing and paying tributes at the temple won’t matter. What mattered was following his teaching and ideology.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message--

He was striving for social reform and harmony throughout his life. He used to say, “Aisa chahun raj main, jahan mile sabhann ko ann, chhot bado sab saman base, Ravidas rahe prasann” (I want a regime in which everyone gets food, all are equal and Ravidas remains happy).” For positive change in the society, he emphasized on the feeling of harmony and brotherhood. The mantra with which we are moving forward is Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas, which encapsulates the sense of Sant Ravidas ji’s timeless thoughts based on justice, equality and service. Taking inspiration from the values of Saint Ravidas ji in the Amrit Kaal of independence, we are moving fast in the direction of building a strong, inclusive, and grand nation. By following the path shown by him with the power of collectively, we will take India to new heights in the 21st century.”
