The district basic shiksha adhikari, who has ordered an audit of 2,500 primary and upper primary school buildings, suspended a construction in-charge. A probe was also ordered into the collapse of the side walls and a part of the roof of the junior high school at the village in Etmadpur tehsil.

The portion where the walls caved in had been abandoned in August this year. However, as many as 32 students were present near it for midday meals.

Basic shiksha adhikari Pawan Kumar Tiwari reached the spot and ordered a probe.

“An additional BSA has been asked to conduct the probe and submit a report within a week. The construction in-charge, an official of the education department, has been suspended. The building’s portion was abandoned in August this year,” Tiwari added.

The school building was constructed in 2008-2009.
