As soon as the house opened to the question hour at 11 in the morning, SP members trooped into the well with placards in hands, insisting on moving the censure motion on the issue of atrocities against women in the north-east state of Manipur

The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Monday created noisy scenes in the Vidhan Parishad, demanding the chair to accept its censure motion on the Manipur violence. Chairman Kunwar Manvendra Singh rejected the demand saying rules did not permit discussion in the house here on a matter related to any other state.

As soon as the house opened to the question hour at 11 in the morning, SP members trooped into the well with placards in hands, insisting on moving the censure motion on the issue of atrocities against women in the north-east state of Manipur.

They displayed placards with slogans written in Hindi, like ‘The censure motion be accepted’ and ‘We will save daughters, will make the I.N.D.I.A win’.

The chairman adjourned the house for half-an-hour after his repeated pleas to the SP members for allowing the question hour to run did not work. But the SP members again trooped in the well and shouted slogans aloud immediately after the house reassembled. The house was adjourned again only to witness the same scenes later.

The chairman finally adjourned the house till the next day when the SP members did not relent even as also disposed some business quickly amid the continuing noise.
