Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will fill 7,686 vacant posts in various central government offices through its Combined Graduate Level Exam (CGLE)-2021. The details of posts released by SSC recently include 897 reserved for economically weaker section (EWS) candidates, 1,858 for Other Backward Class (OBC), 703 for Scheduled Tribe(ST) and 1,204 for Scheduled Caste (SC) aspirants besides 3024 unreserved seats.

The online examination of Tier-I was conducted by SSC from April 11 to 21. A total of around 19 lakh candidates from all over the country were registered for this exam. Out of 4.97 lakh registered candidates from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar under SSC’s Prayagraj-based central zone headquarters, 41.26% had appeared in it.

The result of Tier-1 exam was declared on July 4, 2022. As per the result, a total of 1,56,387 candidates cleared the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam. “Now in the next phase for those qualifying Tier-1, the Tier-2 examination is all set to be held on August 8 and August 10 in two shifts. On August 8, paper-1 and paper-2 exam will be held that is mandatory for all candidates while paper-3 will be held on August 10 for shortlisted candidates vying for the post of junior statistical officer from 10am to 12am and paper-4 from 2pm to 4pm for those vying for the posts of assistant accounts officer. These exams will be conducted in computer-based mode,” said SSC central region’s regional director Rahul Sachan.

Admit cards of the candidates will be soon available on SSC’s official website—ssc-cr.org, he added. Region wise count of candidates who have qualified for CGLE (tier 2)-2021 examination include 33,106 of central region, 6,382 of western region, 44,552 of Northern region, 14,808 of Eastern region and 3,479 of North West region, he shared.

In the central region, the CGL (Tier 2) exam for the 33,106 eligible candidates will be held at 106 centres. They include 2,193 candidates who will appear in the exam at seven centres in Agra, 225 candidates who will appear at one centre in Arah, 911 candidates who will appear at two centres in Bareilly, 444 candidates who will appear at one centre in Bhagalpur, 987 candidates who will appear at three centres in Gorakhpur, 536 candidates who will appear at two centres in Jhansi, 3,713 candidates who will appear at 10 centres in Kanpur, 6,487 candidates who will appear at 20 centres in Lucknow, 1,318 candidates who will appear at three centres in Meerut, 1,488 candidates who will appear at five centres in Muzaffarnagar, 7,330 candidates who will appear at 24 centres in Patna, 2,437 candidates at 10 centres in Prayagraj, 680 candidates who will appear at two centres in Purnea and 4,357 candidates who will appear at 16 centres in Varanasi.

“This CGL Tier-2 exam will be followed by Combined Graduate Level (Tier 3) exam that is scheduled to be held on August 21, 2022. The CGL (Tier 3) exam is to be held in pen and paper mode,” he added.

According to the vacancies released by SSC that are to be filled through CGLE-2021, the maximum number of 1,138 posts out of the total 7,686 posts are of tax assistant in Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). After this, 9,89 posts are of auditors in the Controller General of Defence Accounts. Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs will recruit 824 candidates on the posts of inspector (central excise) while 728 posts of statistical investigator grade II will be filled in office of Registrar General of India.
