Lucknow gears up to host Khelo India Games
Divisional commissioner Dr Roshan Jacob and district magistrate Suryapal Gangwar held a meeting on Wednesday at the divisional commissioner’s office to review the preparations for the Khelo India Games event
State capital is gearing up to host Khelo India Games scheduled from May 25. Around 5000 athletes are expected to participate in the games. Apart from this, more than 2000 officials and other representatives are also expected to be there at the event.
Divisional commissioner Dr Roshan Jacob and district magistrate Suryapal Gangwar held a meeting on Wednesday at the divisional commissioner’s office to review the preparations for the Khelo India Games event.
Divisional commissioner directed the officials of LMC, LDA, LESA and Jal Sansthan to work in proper coordination for successfull organisation of the event.
“There should be such arrangements that all the guests should take away good memories from here,” said Dr Roshan Jacob.
District magistrate Suryapal Gangwar said,” As the games will start in hot weather conditions, health of people should be given priority. Food and water served should be fresh and of good quality. Vehicles should also be arranged for the players and the guests.”
ADM City East has been designated to issue duty passes to officers, employees at the time of the event. Cooperation of Prantiya Rakshak Dal (PRD), National Cadet Corps (NCC) and Civil Defence will be taken to ensure proper execution of all the programmes.
Lesa has been told to fix the power system to ensure uninterrupted power supply. A reception desk would be made at the airport and railway station on the lines of G 20 meet.
The divisional commissioner said that medical facilities, including orthopedic specialist and physiotherapists will also be present at the venue. An ALS ambulance will also be stationed during the event. Apart from this, private hospitals should also be included in the panel. The arrangement for waste collection would be made by LMC at every two hours from all the venues. The municipal corporation and public works department would ensure repair of approach road, dividers and railings at program sites.
