Samarth Gupta, senior divisional commercial manager, said the accused was caught by TTE Rajeev Ranjan and senior chief commercial ticket clerk Kunj Bihari Singh during checking on platforms 6 and 7 between 10 pm and 6 am late on Friday night.
“The accused, identified as Shivam Mishra, a resident of Sitapur, was allegedly found dressed in a TTE uniform and collecting money from passengers illegally. During questioning, he claimed to be posted as a TTE in Moradabad division,” he added.
Officials said an identity card and an EFT (Excess Fare Ticket) book were recovered from his possession. However, verification with Moradabad division revealed that no person by that name was employed there as a TTE.
Following the verification, the accused was handed over to the government railway police. The senior DCM said vigilance is being maintained against such illegal activities to ensure passenger safety and convenience.
