The state capital, yet again, has zero active Covid cases after the only patient undergoing treatment for the infection, was declared recovered on Wednesday, according to the health department.
“The only Covid patient in Lucknow for the last four days has recovered. Now, there are no active covid cases here,” said Yogesh Raghuvanshi, the district health education officer.

Lucknow attained the zero active Covid case status only once before, on December 6. People who had recovered from Covid were diagnosed with the infection again.
The city’s first Covid-19 case was of a doctor who had returned from Canada; the second case was also of a doctor and the third of a Bollywood singer who had returned from the UK.
“The decline in Covid cases has been a result of efforts of not just the authorities but each resident who adhered to the Covid protocol,” said Dr Nishant Nirvan, the district surveillance officer.
The capital has reported 3,60,403 cases till now. A majority of the cases were of people between 25 and 50 years of age. Most of the casualties were among the 50-plus population. So far, 74,59,915 samples have been tested, out 37.4 lakh were tested with the RT-PCR method.
