Man leaves jewellery shop unattended in Pune, loses Rs 27L in 45 minutes

The owner of a jewellery shop in Talegaon, who accidentally left his shop unlocked, was looted of valuables worth Rs 27,00,000 on Monday.

The theft came to light at 7.15 am, 45 minutes after Oswal left the shop. The police are trying to locate the person seen in the footage (PICTURE FOR REPRESENTATIVE PURPOSES)

The victim, identified as Ashok Javarchandra Oswal, 56, owner of Sandhavi jewellers, is also the complainant in the matter.

A total of 3kg of silver worth Rs 1,35,000; good worth Rs 25,50,000; cash worth Rs 10,000 and a mobile phone worth Rs 10,000 have been reported as stolen, according to Dnyaneshwar Bajgire, police sub-inspector, Talegaon police station, who is investigating the case.

According to the complaint, the victim opened his shop in the early hours of Monday and left for Mumbai. The police have acquired the closed circuit television footage (CCTV) of the incident.

A case under Sections 457 and 380 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against unidentified person at Talegaon police station.
