Mumbai: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the Customs department on Sunday nabbed a man at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and seized various foreign currency notes worth ₹1.50 crore.

According to the Customs, the accused, identified as Khateeb Rahim, a resident of Karwar in Karnataka, was on his way to Dubai.
As per sources, while profiling passengers at the airport, the AIU officials intercepted Rahim on suspicion. They found currency notes of Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Oman and US worth ₹1.50 crore in his check-in baggage.
During interrogation he revealed that one of his relatives had handed him over the parcel to deliver it to Dubai. The officials are now working out more details of Rahim’s relative.
The officials have booked the accused under relevant sections of the Customs Act and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) for smuggling huge amounts of foreign currency notes.
