Mumbai: No bail to Shree Jogdhankar in Khar murder case

The sessions court on Wednesday rejected bail application of Shree Jogdhankar, who has been booked for allegedly murdering his friend Janhvi Kukreja, 19, at a Khar building on December 31, 2020 at a New Year’s Eve party.

Khar police arrested Jogdhankar and Diya Padalkar for the teenager’s murder, claiming it was a pre-planned act.

Jogdhankar in his bail application claimed that during the party which had a lot of alcohol, some persons attacked him leading to injuries. He further claimed that CCTV footage shows him leaving the building with injuries. His friends allegedly took him Sion hospital where he received stiches.

The prosecution claimed that the accused had given a false statement before the medical officer about his injuries. It has relied on the circumstance that three of them – Padalkar, Kukreja and Jogdhankar – were seen leaving the party together and later Kukreja was found dead.

Jogdhankar had also sought interim bail on medical grounds claiming he was attacked on the same night and his condition was critical because of several internal injuries. He also claimed that the police did not register his complaint for attempt to murder.

The court has also refused to consider his plea for interim bail.
