Mumbai: A woman riding pillion on a bike was killed and her 25-year-old nephew injured reportedly after another biker coming from behind crashed into their two-wheeler in Vikhroli on Tuesday.

According to the police, Akash Jaiswal of Kurla West, who works in a private bank in Bhandup was heading to his office on the bike and his aunt, Aradhana Jaiswal, who worked in an insurance company in Vikhroli, was riding pillion.
The incident happened when a speeding bike tried to overtake the victim’s bike from the left side to take the flyover and crashed into Akash’s bike, Subhadha Chavan, senior inspector, Vikhroli police station, said.
Due to the impact of the crash, Akash lost balance and fell on the road, whereas his aunt was dragged along with the bike for a few metres, Chavan added.
Anuradha sustained severe head injury. Two auto drivers rushed Jaiswal and his aunt to Godrej Hospital, where the woman died.
The other biker, Nilesh Jaiswal, was brought to police station and based on a complaint by Akash, the police arrested him for causing death due to rash and negligent driving, Chavan said.
