“Those sent to police lines include one inspector and three police post in-charges from the jurisdiction of Nandgram police station. The action has been taken on account of dereliction of duty and due to complaints received from the public. The action is not related to the kidnapping and murder case,” said Alok Dubey, circle officer (city 2).

On Sunday, the girl was kidnapped from her house and her father received ransom calls demanding 30 lakh for her release. The girl was living with her maternal grandparents in a locality under the jurisdiction of Nandgram police station.

The Ghaziabad police had formed five teams, including those from the crime branch, but the kidnappers had murdered the girl and her body was recovered from Bulandshahr on Tuesday.

The police had arrested three people on Wednesday while a fourth suspect is still at large. On the basis of questioning the suspects, the police said the girl was murdered at 6pm on Sunday, but the autopsy report said the time of death was a day before the autopsy.

The autopsy was conducted on Tuesday in Bulandshahr. It also found that the girl died from asphyxia due to throttling.

When contacted, Muniraj G, senior superintendent of police, did not come on record but his PRO confirmed the action against the four officers attached to Nandgram police station.
