According to investigators, the suspects knew the deceased man, Deepak Singh alias Bhoora, a resident of Sain Vihar, because they had partied at his farmhouse on the late night of March 22.

“Later, the suspects shot him in the head and wrapped his body in a blanket. Then, they took the body to the Hindon River near Muradnagar, 30km from the farmhouse, and threw it there before returning home. The victim’s family filed a complaint against the four suspects. We recovered the body later with the help of the arrested suspects,” said assistant commissioner of police (Wave City) Ravi Prakash Singh.

The police filed a first information report under Indian Penal Code sections 365 (kidnapping for wrongful confinement) and 34 (common intention).

“During the investigation, we discovered that Mukesh had taken a loan of 2 lakh at a flat interest rate of 10% and could not repay the deceased man. Similarly, Pappan had obtained 10,000 at the same interest rate but could not pay. On this account, the deceased man used to treat them poorly. So, they planned to murder him with the assistance of two other accomplices, who arranged for a weapon and a Honda City car to dispose of the body,” ACP Singh added.

Based on CCTV footage of their car’s movement while on their way to dispose of the body and their electronic surveillance locations at the crime scene and where investigators found the body, the police arrested the two suspects.

Police charged the two with murder (section 302), evidence destruction (section 201), criminal conspiracy (section 120b), and common intention (section 34) under the Indian Penal Code.
