New Delhi: The Delhi government is planning to increase the monthly honorarium of Anganwadi workers and helpers, a move that could benefit more than 21,000 frontline functionaries working across the Capital, an official said on Thursday.

Anganwadi workers presently receive a total monthly amount of ₹12,720, comprising an honorarium of ₹11,220 and ₹1,500 as conveyance and communication allowance. Helpers receive ₹6,810, including ₹5,610 honorarium and ₹1,200 allowance. The rates were fixed in March 2022.

According to government data, Anganwadi workforce is of 21,350, comprising workers and helpers.

Recently, the Delhi government doubled the fixed monthly incentive for ASHA workers from ₹3,000 to ₹6,000. The decision, approved by the Cabinet on September 15, will benefit 6,725 ASHA workers in Delhi. According to the Delhi government’s Economic Survey 2025-26, the city has 10,897 Anganwadi centres.
