Free treatment in govt hospitals for Chhattisgarh residents from June 1: Deo

Chhattisgarh health and family welfare minister TS Singh Deo on Tuesday said the state will launch free treatment and diagnostics facility in all government-run health facilities for its residents from June 1.

Singh Deo made the announcement while answering to the debate on demand for grants for his departments under the annual budget of the financial year 2022-23.

“From June 1, we are implementing the cashless system for the people in all government hospitals of Chhattisgarh,” said Singh Deo.

He further said that out-patient department (OPD), inpatient department (IPD), medicines and all kinds of diagnostic services will be provided free of cost to people of the state.

“Like we used to go to the OPD, would have to pay and get a slip after which we consult the doctor or get a blood test done, now all those charges have been removed,” Singh Deo added.

The minister further said chief minister Bhupesh Baghel has given his approval to the scheme.

“The scheme would add a new dimension to Nyay scheme being run in the state and help in achieving the goal of ensuring health as a right to people according to the concept of universal health care through cashless system,” the minister added.
