LUCKNOW City-based CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) hosted Philipp Ackermann, the German Ambassador to India, and Kaspar Meyer, Science Counsellor, German Embassy in India, on Monday. During the visit, the ambassadors interacted with the senior scientists and discussed the possibilities of future collaboration in the field of plant science, toxicology, environmental research for the welfare of society and for the advancement of science in general.

The ambassadors also visited the Botanic Garden of the institute where Ackermann planted the saplings of Rudraksha (Elaeocarpus angustifolius) and Sita Ashok tree (Saraca asoca) in the NBRI campus. On the occasion, Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, director of CSIR-NBRI, Lucknow, and Bhaskar Narayan, director of CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, Lucknow, told the ambassadors about the research and development activities being carried out in the institutes and the contributions and achievement of both the institutes towards Science and society.
