Hoax email: Jamnagar collector on Moscow-Goa flight bomb threat

The flight carrying 236 passengers and eight crew members made an emergency landing at Gujarat’s Jamnagar Airport on Monday night owing to the bomb threat.

The bomb threat that caused an emergency landing of the Moscow-Goa Azur Air flight could be a hoax call, Jamnagar collector Saurabh Pardhi said on Tuesday.

“We feel that the bomb threat was a hoax e-mail,” Pardhi said.

The flight carrying 236 passengers and eight crew members made an emergency landing at Gujarat’s Jamnagar Airport on Monday night owing to the bomb threat.

All the passengers and crew members were evacuated safely and the plane was checked by the police along with local authorities and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) but found nothing, Pardhi told media persons.

Further, all the passengers were put up at the airport lounge at Jamnagar after the landing.

“The aircraft made an emergency landing at the Jamnagar Indian Air Force base. Everyone on board is safe and the authorities have searched everyone on board and found nothing suspicious on the aircraft,” Pardhi said.

The chartered flight was diverted to Jamnagar, Gujarat after Goa air traffic control received an alleged bomb threat on Monday night. The plane was cleared to take off around 1.30pm on Tuesday.

The flight took off from Moscow and was headed to Goa’s Dabolim Airport.
