Manipur: Nine govt officials suspended on charges of ‘manipulating land records’
CM Biren also warned officials who earlier committed wrongful acts to voluntarily come out and rectify the wrongful deed, if any, before the authority starts taking up legal actions
Nine Manipur government officials, including two state civil service officers besides a doctor, were suspended on charges of “misusing of power” and manipulating land records.
“The government has suspended two MCS (Manipur civil service) officers with one SDC (sub-divisional officer) and others for misusing of power and transferring and manipulating the land records,” said state chief minister N Biren Singh at a press conference in Imphal on Friday.
The suspended officers were identified as K Goverdhon Singh and Samson Huidrom of civil service and G Chinglensana Kabui, a sub-divisional officer.

The suspended doctor was identified as Dr O Budhachandra of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences. He was dismissed on charges of admitting two officers (in the ward) without proper examination.
Amid this, the chief minister directed the government officials to render their service sincerely and refrain from committing any wrongful activity.

Urging the officers to streamline their duties so that no such stringent action is required in future, Biren said, “I once again appeal to my dear officials to remain strict as per rule provided under the constitution and rules of law.”
On the illegal manufacturing of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in the state, Singh said that the state police achieved success in busting an illegal liquor factory and arresting the accused.
An illegal liquor manufacturing unit was busted in Manipur’s Thoubal district on Sunday by a team of Khongjom police under the supervision of superintendent of police (SP) Jogeschandra Haobijam in which three persons, including one Thokchom Bobo Singh, his mother and his wife were arrested. However, both mother and wife were released on bail separately.

In the raid, police also recovered dozens of cases of IMFL liquor among other things used in the producing the liquor.
Condemning such activities for causing serious health hazards to the people, the chief minister said such heinous acts could be taken as an attempt to murder. He stressed the need for coordinated work of the judiciary and executives to stop unlawful activities and save the state from its ill effects.
