The SUV overturned while trying to avoid a collision with a two-wheeler. Brijesh Singh, SHO of Naini police station, said, “The SUV of the district administration overturned while preventing collision with a two-wheeler. Since the vehicle was coming at high-speed, it overturned as soon as the driver applied the brakes. Seems like the steering too had failed but thankfully, no one sustained serious injured in the incident.”
Soon after the accident, reports started doing rounds that the overturned SUV was part of the fleet of state governor Anandiben Patel, who was coming to Prayagraj after attending a convocation function in Naini. However, the district administration has scrapped all such reports.
Additional district magistrate (city) Madan Kumar said, “The SUV that overturned at Naini was on the same route as the governor. However, it wasn’t a part of the governor’s fleet. The governor had passed by the spot several minutes before the accident took place.”
