10-year-old school boy killed, mother injured in accident at Pimpri-Chinchwad

A 10-year-old school boy was killed and his mother sustained injuries after the minor come under the wheels of a truck at Shahu Nagar, near old Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Pimpri Chinchwad on Thursday

A 10-year-old school boy was killed and his mother sustained injuries after the minor come under the wheels of a truck at Shahu Nagar, near old Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Pimpri Chinchwad on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Atharva Ravindra Aalne (11), while the injured has been identified as Harshada Aalne. Atharva was a student of Class six and was on his way to school with his mother on a two-wheeler, said police.

Police officials from the Bhosari MIDC police station said, when the duo was near the corner of Shahu Nagar, their motorcycle was hit by a speeding car and Atharva fell on the road and come under the wheels of a truck.

After the accident, traffic movement in the area was affected, causing major congestion. Traffic police cordoned off the route and diverted traffic from the service road.

Police officials said, they have detained the drivers of both vehicles.

The process to register a first information report (FIR) under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Act at MIDC Bhosari police station was underway at the time of going to press.
