4 killed, 11 injured in accident on Pune-Ahmednagar road

A team of local police, locals rushed to the spot and shifted injured passengers to a nearby hospital

Four people including a minor from Pune district died and eleven others were injured in an accident on Pune-Ahmednagar road on Wednesday, said officials.

The deceased identified include Rajendra Salave, Vijay Avchite, Dheeraj Mohite and Mayur Salave.

According to local police, a group of around 15-20 villagers from Chincholi More and adjoining villages from Pune district went to religious places like Shani Shingnapur and Devgad on the occasion of Gudi Padwa.

On Wednesday, when they were on their return journey towards Pune, near Kamgar village an overspeeding truck coming from the opposite side rammed their tempo after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

A traffic jam was reported for some time on Pune-Ahmednagar route, but a team of police cleared the traffic within half an hour.
