PUNE The final budget presented by standing committee on Monday has proposed to make Pune a lake, yoga city, have pedestrian-friendly signals with timers, mobile clinics for senior citizens and other schemes.

Standing committee chairman Hemant Rasane presented the final budget of Rs9,716 crore for the year 2022-23.
Rasane said, “As we are empowered to present the budget, I did my work and presented it to the standing committee. Since it is not possible to call a general body meeting as the house tenure ended on Monday midnight, the commissioner will take a call on the budget.”
Pune as a Lake city : Pune city has various lakes which are within the city limit. If the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) develops it properly, the city would have a new identity apart from being known as IT city, educational hub. “I have proposed to develop all these lakes as a tourist places. Each assembly constituency has at least one lake,” said Rasane. Pune city has lakes at Jambulwadi, Katraj, Pashan, Lakaki Lake, Kharadi, Pachgaon Parvati, Dukkar Khind, Vetal Tekadi, Padmavati, Sarasbaug and Pune station.The PMC plans to develop all these lakes on Public-private partnership (PPP) basis and is making project reports for the same.
Pune as a Yoga city : Yoga and laughing clubs are very popular in the city.Yoga Day is also celebrated internationally. Considering this, PMC has decided to facilitate yoga culture in the city. For this, PMC would make available 136 school buildings and all the public gardens.
Pedestrian signals with timer: Pune city introduced Pedestrian Day, to promote walking for citizens safer, The PMC is set to introduce pedestrian-friendly signals at various chowks. These signals will have timers so that residents can cross the road.
Balbharti Paud road: The work of the Balbharti Paud road will begin in the next financial year.
21 bridges on Ambil odha: After the floods at Ambil odha, it was clear that various bridges obstructed water flow causing flooding.By considering this, the PMC decided to construct 21 new bridges and demolish the existing ones. Work of ten bridges has already been completed.
Nursing college and mobile clinics: The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted health infrastructural issues in the city. The civic body has proposed to introduce mobile clinics which will serve senior citizens. The civic body will also provide additional technical and medical staff. The PMC has also proposed to start a new nursing college.
Electric buses: The future is electric. The PMC has decided to purchase 650 electric buses. Each bus will cost Rs50 lakh.
