Man booked for attempt to kill wife
According to the police, the incident was reported during the night hours between Saturday and Sunday
Pune: The police on Sunday booked a 33-year-old man from Wadgaonsheri for allegedly attempting to murder his wife.
The accused identified as Sanjay Karbhari Shinde had been reportedly mentally and physically harassing his wife and pressuring her to secure ₹30 lakh from her father.
According to the police, the incident was reported during the night hours between Saturday and Sunday.
As per the complaint filed by the woman, she got married with the accused on July 9, 2023. The accused complained that her father has not given him anything in marriage hence he started demanding money from her father. The accused shot obscene videos of her wife and threatened to make it viral.
On Saturday night, the accused harassed the complainant over her “character” before attacking her with koyta and grinding stone. When her father tried to rescue the injured victim, the accused also attacked him.
Chandannagar police station has filed a case under Sections 307, 498a, 323, 504 and 506 of the IPC.
The victim’s life is reportedly out of danger, police officials said.
