Man kills mother in Pimpri for asking him to quit drinking, arrested

A 30-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for killing his mother at their home in Niradhar Nagar, Pimpri. The incident was reported on March 9, said police.
The accused has been identified as Vishwas Ashok Shinde, a garbage loader for the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. The victim has been identified as Prayagbai Ashok Shinde (58).
Police said, the accused was engaged in a fight with his mother over his alcohol addiction, as his mother used to repeatedly tell him to quit drinking and concentrate on work.
According to police, the victim was living with her son. On March 9, at around 8 am, the accused was drinking alcohol when his mother asked him to go to work. The accused got angry, abused her and hit her with a cement paver block on the head. The woman was severely injured in the incident and later died due to injuries.
A case has been registered at Pimpri police station under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 302 (murder).
