Moderate rainfall for Pune city on Wednesday

As per the forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), good rainfall in the catchment area and ghat regions has led dam water storage to increase.
In the last 24 hours, Shivajinagar reported over 33 mm rainfall. Till Tuesday evening, Shivajinagar reported 17.2 mm rain. Pashan reported 17.8 mm, Lohegaon reported 15.6 mm, Chinchwad reported 33.5 mm, Lavale reported 13 mm and Magarpatta reported 5 mm rainfall.
According to the water resource department, Panshet had 86.78 per cent storage of water till Tuesday. Khadakwasla reported 42.34 per cent, Warasgaon at 78.23 per cent and Temghar had 61.33 per cent water storage till Tuesday. Total content of four dams is 23.08 TMC which is 79.18 per cent.
As per the water resource department, Warasgaon catchment area reported 76 mm, Temghar catchment area reported 125 mm, Panshet 75 mm and Khadakwasla 6 mm rainfall on Tuesday.
Anupam Kashyapi, head of weather forecasting department at IMD Pune said that on August 10 as well, Pune city may receive moderate to isolated heavy rainfall. “However, ghat regions around Pune city are likely to have very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely around the ghat regions only. IMD has issued a red alert for the ghat regions on Wednesday as well,” said Kashyapi.
He added that four subdivisions across Maharashtra have been given orange alert on August 10.
“Konkan and Goa, central Maharashtra and Vidarbha have orange alerts on August 10. From August 11, there is a yellow alert for all four subdivisions of Maharashtra,” said Kashyapi.
