Some locals spotted the hand grenade at an open space near the Mula river in Manjari Khurd area and alerted the Lonikand police officials, who arrived at the spot for investigation along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS).

According to the police, the hand grenade must have neem discarded eight-ten years ago while levelling the area and must have come up in the debris.

Gajanan Pawar, senior police inspector at Lonikand police station said, “It was an old, rusted hand grenade which might have been discarded. It was spotted by the locals and our teams reached the spot immediately for investigation. The BDDS carried it away safely. There is nothing to worry.”
