Parts of Pune city witness light rainfall on Friday
According to IMD, between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm on Friday, Shivajinagar reported 1.2 mm rainfall, Lohegaon reported 0.8 mm rainfall, Chinchwad reported 13.5 mm rainfall and Magarpatta reported 9.5 mm rainfall
PUNE The city on Friday evening reported light thunderstorms and lightning with traces of rainfall in some parts of the city. Areas including Kothrud, Bibwewadi, Shivaji nagar, Swargate, Pashan, Baner, Aundh, Sus, Pune university, Chakan, Nigdi, Akurdi-Dehu road, Bhosari, Talegaon and Lohegaon reported rainfall.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm on Friday, Shivajinagar reported 1.2 mm rainfall, Lohegaon reported 0.8 mm rainfall, Chinchwad reported 13.5 mm rainfall and Magarpatta reported 9.5 mm rainfall.
After March 18, maximum and minimum temperatures across Maharashtra including Pune are expected to see a rise as per the weather department.
Pune on Friday reported day temperature at 34.1 degrees Celsius which was 0.8 degrees cooler than normal. And the night temperature in the city was 17.5 degrees Celsius which was 2.7 degrees warmer than normal.
Anupam Kashyapi, head of the weather forecasting department at IMD Pune said, that till March 14, Pune city will continue to witness partly cloudy skies.
“From March 15, Pune city will have a clear sky. Till then partly cloudy and generally cloudy skies are likely in the city. Pune city will have a maximum temperature between 34 to 36 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature around 19 to 20 degrees Celsius in the next few days,” said Kashyapi.
He added that currently, over Maharashtra there is a trough line present.
“This trough line passes from south-central Chhattisgarh via Vidarbha and close to Marathwada. That is the reason parts of Maharashtra are reporting convective activity over Maharashtra,” said Kashyapi.
