State launches property home registration facility for senior citizens

Revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Thursday launched a home-visit facility for property and document registration. The facility is one of two citizen-centric initiatives the department launched to make property and document registration more accessible and convenient.

Pune: Revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Thursday launched a home-visit facility for property and document registration. This enables elderly citizens and people with medical conditions who cannot visit sub-registrar offices to complete registration formalities from their residences.

The facility is one of two citizen-centric initiatives the Maharashtra revenue department launched to make property and document registration more accessible and convenient. The second initiative, e-Pramaan, will allow citizens to obtain certified copies of registered documents, Schedule II documents and marriage certificates online.

Bawankule said, “The initiative is aimed at addressing the difficulties faced by senior citizens and people with health conditions who are unable to travel to government offices.”

After receiving an application, the sub-registrar’s office will offer the applicant two time slots for the visit. The applicant can select a convenient slot, following which the sub-registrar will visit the residence and complete the registration formalities.

Under e-Pramaan, citizens can apply online for certified copies of registered documents, Schedule II documents and marriage certificates. The documents will be delivered through an SMS link or WhatsApp, reducing the need for physical visits to government offices.

According to the revenue department, digital signatures and blockchain technology will be used to enhance the security and reliability of the certified copies and prevent tampering.
