Two absconding Pathan gang members arrested in extortion case

The Kalepadal police arrested two absconding members of the Tipu Pathan gang on Sunday in connection with a Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) case involving alleged land grabbing and extortion, officials said.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sajid Nadaf (27), a resident of Vetalbaba Colony, Hadapsar, and Irfan Shaikh (27), a resident of Sayyadnagar, Hadapsar. (REPRESENTATIVE PIC)

According to police, the case was registered on October 12, 2025, at Kalepadal police station based on a complaint by Lourdes Harris Swamy (31), a resident of Naupada, Mumbai. Swamy stated that his mother, Ursula Harris Swamy, owned a 1,290-square-foot ancestral property in Sayyadnagar, where a tin shed had been constructed.
The complainant alleged that Tipu Pathan and his associates illegally occupied the land, demolished the shed, and put up their own board. After his mother’s death, when Swamy approached the property, Pathan allegedly demanded ₹25 lakh for its return and threatened him with death if he returned to the area, police said.
