A total of 13 first information reports (FIRs) were registered at six police stations under Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The district administration has also started the process to mark ‘red entry’ in the land record of the farmers booked by the police for stubble burning so that violators don’t get the benefit of any government schemes and subsidies.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and agriculture department have issued challans to 36 more farmers who indulged in stubble burning in the district. The PPCB has fined a total of 70 farmers till Friday.
Deputy commissioner Sandeep Hans said the district administration has constituted as many as 20 teams to keep a check on stubble burning.
26 fined in Fatehgarh Sahib
Meanwhile, 26 farmers were fined Rs 87,500 for stubble burning in Fatehgarh Sahib, according to Raji P Srivastava, principal secretary, social security and woman and child development, who has been made in-charge of the district to curb incidents of farm fires.
