Woman alleges gang rape in moving car

After regaining consciousness, the woman alleged she was drugged and gang-raped by her employer and his friends in a moving car.

A 20-year-old woman was found lying on the road in a semi-conscious condition near Indraprastha College for Women in north Delhi’s Civil Lines area on Sunday night. She was taken to Lok Nayak Hospital for medical attention.

After regaining consciousness, the woman alleged she was drugged and gang-raped by her employer and his friends in a moving car.

On the basis of her complaint, an FIR was registered on Tuesday evening at the Civil Lines police station and investigation initiated.

The police identified the prime suspect and picked him up for questioning during which the suspect pleaded innocence and said he was not in town at the time of the incident. He was not placed under arrest till Tuesday night.

Madhur Verma, the deputy commissioner of police (north), said, “We have registered a case and are probing it. The claims of the prime suspect, Rajesh Singhal, are also being verified.”

The woman in her statement alleged she had gone to meet Singhal, owner of a brick kiln, at his office in northeast Delhi’s Sonia Vihar on Sunday.

She knew Singhal for the past two years and had called her to his office to provide her a job.
