The Class of 2018 is a year-long project to study Delhi's education system in granular detail.
In March 2017, the Hindustan Times asked for permission to track a group of students in two Delhi schools from their first day in Class 12, right up to end of their college application process.
The Delhi government identified two sites: a government senior secondary school in C block in Sangam Vihar in South Delhi, and the Shahid Amir Chand Government Sarvodya Vidyalaya in Civil Lines in North Delhi. While the Sarvodya Vidyalaya is a co-ed school with about 1500 students from Class 1 to Class 12, the Sangam School has about 10,000 students split across two shifts.
Starting May 1 2017, HT shall publish a series of articles every month to explore a particular dimension of the academic session of 2017-18. In the process, we hope to portray the hopes, dreams, struggles and successes of a generation of students as they come of age.
