The Ashes 1st Test Day 5 ENG vs AUS Highlights: Cummins pulls off miracle, Australia beat England by 2 wickets

Broad continues from the other end. Stokes might do well to bring himself on here for a short burst at Travis Head, who has been pinned down thus far. He has found the field more often than not but hasn't looked unsteady by any means. Australia are 122/4, Khawaja on 38 off 105, Head on 0 off 9.

Head survives a stern test from Broad in that over, tried taking on the short ball off the last delivery but couldn't get a run off it. Here is the first bowling change of the day now, Robinson on for Anderson.

Boland nicks it and Bairstow catches it. Broad gets the breakthrough, bluffs him with a full delivery for the short ball field. But the real game starts now, Travis Head walks in.

Australia are 120/3 in the 37th over as the Hollies go "Boring boring Aussies". Australia are happy just knocking the odd single around at the moment, England are guarding the boundaries with their lives.

It is Broad and Anderson to start off with for England and the latter did beat Khawaja's outside edge with the fourth ball of his latest. Khawaja on 36 off 96, Boland on 17 off 28.

Allright then, James Anderson bowling the first over of the day, Usman Khawaja is on strike with Scott Boland at the other end. Australia 107/3, need 174 to win, England need 7 wickets to win.

Edgbaston is almost up to full capacity now and it doesn't look like rain is going to be a problem for the rest of the day. Sit tight now, some desperate Test cricket is about to be played today. 

We have lost overs, as expected. Post-lunch session from 2.15pm - 4.30pm (9pm IST), and the final session from 4.50pm - 7pm (9.20pm-11.3-pm  IST), with a possibility of time being added later.

There it is, the start time is confirmed for now, unless there is more rain of course. The forecast says it is unlikely but still, keep your fingers crossed please because this is England.

Just the pitch that is still covered now and some sunshine has broken through the gloom at Edgbaston. Lunch time officially ended a few minutes back and there is very good chance that we could see some action in about half an hour. Believe. 

In case your memory has been fogged up by all that rain, here is a lowdown on where we are at the moment with this Test. Australia are 107/3 and 30 overs have gone in their innings. They are chasing a target of 281. Usman Khawaja is on 34 off 81 while nightwatchman Scott Boland has made 13 runs in 19 balls. Boland will be on strike whenever the two sides walk out to play today. Three of Australia's best - David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith, are back in the hut. Warner scored 36 off 57 before falling to Ollie Robinson (not Stuart Broad!!!!!!!!), while both Labuschagne and Smith were dismissed by Stuart Broad. Labuschagne had scored 13 off 15 while Smith made just six in 13. So Australia need 174 to win, England need 7 wickets to win. Now you know why we say that this match is tantalisingly poised. 

What the umpires did earlier was not an official inspection. That is set to take place at 1.20pm local time. It's drizzling on and off there, which is not good at all, but the covers that have been peeled off are not coming back on at the moment.

Cheers from that crowd now as the covers come off. Meanwhile, 5pm has come and gone in case you hadn't noticed and so Lunch has been taken. 

The super soppers are hard at work and the sky is still gloomy but it hasn't been raining for a while. It does look like we could have some action after Lunch after all. 

Well word from the middle is that there is no rain any more at Edgbaston. The umpires are outside and taking a look as well. 

Nathan Lyon is five wickets away from becoming the eighth player to reach 500 Test wickets. Stuart Broad, meanwhile, is 13 wickets away from becoming the fifth bowler to reach 600 Test wickets while James Anderson is 14 wickets away from becoming the third bowler after Muttiah Muralidaran and Shane Warne, and the first fast bowler, to reach 700 Test wickets.

If Australia chase this down, it will tie the record for the second highest succesfull run chase at Edgbaston. The highest is when Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow took the Indian bowlers to the cleaners and helped England chase down 378 like it was nothing last year. Interestingly, the record that Australia are chasing is not held by England. It is held by South Africa whose then captain Graeme Smith almost single-handedly led them to a target of 281 back in 2008 against England by scoring an unbeaten 154.

So the forecast is that it will be clear skies between 1pm and 6pm (5.30pm and 10.30pm IST). 

It hasn't been mentioned as to what time it has been delayed to but Lunch will be taken at 12.30pm local time. That is about 5pm IST and so it means no play for the next one and a half hours at least. 

It has been absolutely bucketing down in Edgbaston and the forecast is that things will get better after the scheduled lunch time. So the bat news is that we could have a washed out first session. The good news, though, is that there could still be two full sessions which is more than enough for this match to wind down as things stand

"There is still two results on the table I think. The intent from ball one was pretty clear. We are not a results driven team in any way, shape, or form and you almost add pressure on yourself when you set targets of what you want to achieve. This could have been a draw on this type of pitch so us forcing the game forward makes a result possible tomorrow. I think there is supposed to be a bit of cloud around tomorrow. We saw how much it zipped around when there was the cloud the other day. If you can get lucky as a bowling group and get an hour of that you can bring the game home pretty quickly. We feel pretty confident we can go and get 7 wickets and if we turn up tomorrow and there is a bit of cloud, I will have a smile on my face" - he told Sky Cricket.

"I wanted one more tonight really, the ball was just moving a nice amount but those two scrapped really well a the end I thought. It feels like if you can bash away, not much is happening, then one moves. Coming into that, if I can jus whack the pitch as hard as I can and create a bit of movement and theatre. If you can get the crowd going and create a bit of theatre, you can almost feel like something is happening when it is not" - told Sky Cricket.

“Right through the course of this game it has gone back and forth between either side. England were very dominant on day one, Australia found a way to get back into it and Khawaja was outstanding. At the start of this fourth innings, 50-0, everything is looking good, then enter Stuart Broad with a couple of big wickets his team needed. His team needed that spell and the Series needed that spell because it looked like it was slipping away. You can't predict anything. It takes one innings” - told Sky Cricket.
