Delhi Capitals fast-bowler Kagiso Rabada is on the verge setting an Indian Premier League (IPL) record when his team lock horns against Chennai Super Kings in a mouth-watering clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday.
Both teams have already clinched respective spots in the play-offs but the battle to win the league stage is still raging on. A win for either side with help them in getting a bit closer to the top spot, which will give them couple of cracks at making it into the final.

For Delhi to come out victorious in this clash, South African pacer Kagiso Rabada will play a huge role. With 25 wickets thus far, Rabada is leading the race for Purple cap by some distance. The second highest wicket-taker of the season is Rajasthan Royals spinner Shreyas Gopal with 18.
Rabada is currently locked with Morne Morkel (25) in the list of highest wicket-taker for DC in a single season. Morkel achieved the feat in the 2012 edition of the league. Rabada is almost certain to surpass this mark as he already has scalped 25 wickets with few matches to go in the season.
If the South African takes a wicket against CSK, he will surpass Morkel and become the highest wicket-taker for DC in a single season. Ahead of the clash against CSK, Delhi Capitals’ mentor Sourav Ganguly heaped praise on Rabada and his team for becoming the second team after CSK to enter the play-offs.
“I think everybody has played well, that’s why you get there. Shikhar (Dhawan) has been outstanding. Rishabh Pant whenever he has got away from Delhi on good pitches, hard pitches where there is carry, he has been exceptional with the bat,” Ganguly told reporters ahead of the clash.
“Shreyas Iyer has been exceptional as a young captain and taken the responsibility and taken the team forward. He has been brilliant with the bat under pressure. Axar Patel, Rabada have been superb.”
