Pant finishes off in style
Rishabh Pant hits a six off Ish Sodhi to finish the match in style. Also, Pant completed his half-century in the process off 32 deliveries. Rajasthan are officially knocked out of the competition now while Delhi jump to the second spot in the league ahead of Mumbai Indians.
19:17 hrs IST
Match tied
Rishabh Pant hits a huge six off Shreyas Gopal down the ground and then takes a single to tie the match. DC are on the verge of another comprehensive win while Rajasthan are on the cusp of yet another big loss.
19:13 hrs IST
Rutherford falls
Sherfane Rutherford tried to end the innings quickly but perished off the bowling off Shreyas Gopal for 1. He had hit a six off the previous delivery and in trying to do the same, he is caught by Livingstone. Delhi lose half their side now but are on the verge of win.
19:10 hrs IST
Delhi cross 100
Rishabh Pant slams a six and a four off successive deliveries off Varun Aaron as DC score 15 runs from the 15th over of the innings. Delhi now need just 16 to win the match and they have 30 balls in hand.
19:06 hrs IST
Stat attack
Ish Sodhi’s figures read 3/20 in 3 overs and he has played a major role in keeping a check on DC’s run rate in the innings. Colin Ingram became Sodhi’s 150th wicket in T20 cricket.
19:00 hrs IST
Ingram falls
Colin Ingram becomes the fourth Delhi batsman to be dismissed as he top-edges the ball into the hands of the wicket-keeper. Ish Sodhi picks his third wicket of the day as Sherfane Rutherford now joins Rishabh Pant in the middle.
18:53 hrs IST
How Good is Gopal?
Very very good. He is once again the best RR bowler on display. Gives just 2 runs in his thrid over. And his figures read 3 overs 1 for 6. Simply outstanding!
18:46 hrs IST
A lull period
Only 7 runs from the last 2 overs so the Delhi Capitals have now decided to first ensure they end up on the winning side and then think about the Net Run Rate. But the Royals won’t be thinking that way, if they can get a couple of wickets quickly then who knows what can happen.
18:36 hrs IST
Iyer falls
OUT! One shot too many for the DC captain. Shreyas Gopal strikes. One wonders why they didn’t start with Gopal right after the Powerplay. Anyway, is there a twist in the tale? Colin Ingram comes in to join Pant.
18:33 hrs IST
Pant arrives
A slog sweep, a short-arm pull, Rishabh Pant collects bak-to-back sixes off Riyan Parag’s bowling. That 10-over challenge is still on. DC: 60/2 after 7 overs.
18:27 hrs IST
Iyer, Pant on the charge
Two sixes and a boundary from Ish Sodhi’s 2nd over. Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh pant have decided that they won’t let Sodhi dictate terms. After a double-wicket maiden in the first over, Sodhi concedes 17 from his second. DC: 46/2 after 6 overs.
18:16 hrs IST
Two-in-two for Sodhi
BOWLED! Two-in-two for Ish Sodhi. Prithvi Shaw is stunned. This match ain’t getting over quickly. Is this the twist in the tale? Shorter in length, turning away from Shaw. Prithvi looks to cut it but he is too close to the ball. He goes for it and ends up chopping onto the leg stump.
18:14 hrs IST
Sodhi removes Dhawan
OUT! A good catch from Riyan Parag, Ish Sodhi strikes in his first over. He’s got the big wicket of Shikhar Dhawan (16 off 12). One got the feeling Dhawan had decided to finish off this match quickly, he came down the track but didn’t make good connection, Parag at mid-on takes a good catch running backwards.
18:11 hrs IST
Dhawan shows his class
A treat to the eye. Dhawan hits two glorious boundaries off Oshane Thomas. The first one was short and Dhawan hit it past the point fielder but there nothing wrong with the next one, just an excellent shot. Dhawan rose with the bounce, got on top of the ball and drove it past covers.
18:08 hrs IST
9 runs from 2nd over
Varun Aaron gives 9 runs in his first over. Delhi Capitals are up and running. Dhawan looks like he might be the aggressor in this opening partnership.
18:03 hrs IST
Steady start from DC
Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw begin well. DC have a chance of climbing to the top spot if they chase 116 in 10 overs but Dhawan and Shaw seem to be in hurry, they take 6 runs from Gowtham’s first over.
17:51 hrs IST
RR innings round-up
When a team takes 9 wickets in 120 legal balls, normally, it is a good effort overall. Look at the strike rate - just a shade over 13. And indeed, a look at the scorecard confirms that. Only Axar and Paul were wicketless (if you were to exclude Rutherford who bowled just 5 balls) while only Ishant was expensive. He ended up taking 3 wickets. But the pick of the bowlers was Amit Mishra, whose 3/17 rocked Rajasthan hard. He would have got a hat-trick as well but Trent Boult denied that chance to him. For Royals, it was Riyan Parag all the way, he scored his maiden IPL fifty to somehow drag the Royals to 115 for 9.
17:46 hrs IST
RR finish with 115/9
Parag holes out but what a knock this has been. He has given his side something to bowl at. Rajasthan were losing wickets from one end but Parag held his end and played a great knock here. Full around off, Parag looks to go over long off but does not time it well and it goes straight to the man there. Sherfane Rutherford takes a good catch.

17:39 hrs IST
Parag hits a six
That’s more like it, a six to begin the last over. What a talent this Riyan Parag is. Hits it straight over long-off for a maximum. He has been a lone warrior for RR this evening.
17:37 hrs IST
Good job by Rutherford
Shreyas Iyer must be a relieved man. Rutherford has completed the 19th over and conceded only 2 runs. RR are 100 for 8 with just an over to go.
17:33 hrs IST
What’s wrong with Paul?
Keemo Paul is really struggling here. He had pulled out before the first ball of 19th over and after bowling the first ball, he looks to be in more trouble. He has taken his shoes off and Rishabh Pant is assisting him... And now he’s going off, not great news for DC. Rutherfood will complete the over now, can Parag make it count?
17:27 hrs IST
Boult strikes
OUT! Boult gets into the wickets coloumn now. Full length ball on off, Sodhi looks to drive it but the bat turns in his hand and good diving catch at covers from Mishra, he can do no wrong today. That is also the 100th T20 wicket for Trent Boult.
17:22 hrs IST
Ordinary over from Ishant
After bowling three very good overs up-front, Ishant Sharma just lost his way towards the end. He strayed down the leg side, bowled it full outside off, bowled a couple of wides too. Some credit must be given to Riyan Parag, he kept his calm and hit the gaps when it mattered. 18 runs from this over, just what the doctor ordered for Royals. RR:93/7 after 17 overs.
17:11 hrs IST
Great spell from Axar Patel
In between the Ishant and Mishra madness, Axar Patel has finished his four-over spell for only 16 runs. He has been the one who kept on building pressure by bowling in the right areas and that forced the batters to take risk against Mishra.
17:05 hrs IST
Mishra gets his third
OUT! Another one bites the dust. Amit Mishra picks up his third. A terrible shot from Gowtham. He was in no position to play that shot and ends up providing a simple catch to long-off. He wouldn’t want to look at the captain after that. RR: 65/7
16:59 hrs IST
Boult costs Mishra a hat-trick
DROPPED! Trent Boult costs Mishra his fourth IPL hat-trick. The spinner has his hands over his head. Full and outside off, Gowtham looks to go for a slog but gets a top edge. The ball goes high in the air and Trent Boult rushes to his left from mid on. But he misjudges it, loses it halfway and in the end, he dives. But drops it.
16:57 hrs IST
Double strike from Amit Mishra
Just when it was looking Rajasthan Royals were recovering from the early blows, Amit Mishra comes in and ruins everything. He picks up Shreyas Gopal and Stuart Binny off back to back deliveries. Gopal was stumped and Binny was out caught behind. Mishra on a hat-trick.
16:48 hrs IST
Mishra bowls a quiet over
Great stuff from Amit Mishra. Only 4 runs coming from the 10th over. Thee Royals pair of Parag and Gopal have no options but to be a little watchful here. RR: 55/4 after 10
16:43 hrs IST
Fifty up for Royals
Parag drops it to cover point and quickly goes to the other end to bring up the fifty for Rajasthan Royals. It has been a struggle for the visitors so far. 9 overs have been bowled and the umpires signal for the strategic time out, a much needed one for RR.
16:38 hrs IST
Rebuilding starts
17-year-old Riyan Parag has to shoulder the responsibility now. RR have lost their top-order cheaply, now it will be up to Parag, Gopal and Binny. Can they take RR to a respectable total? RR: 44/4 after 8 overs.
16:28 hrs IST
Ishant on fire
OUT! Ishant Sharma is on fire, he picks up his third wicket. Rajasthan are now in deep trouble here. Good length ball outside off, Lomror looks to cut it but gets a thick outside edge to Pant behind the stumps, who makes no mistake. RR: 30/4
16:25 hrs IST
Mix-up ends Samson’s innings
RUN OUT! A terrible mix-up between Sanju Samson and Mahipal Lomror. Full and outside off, Samson pushes it towards cover and sets off. Now, initially, he says no. But then Lomror calls him for the run. Now, Samson trusts him and starts running. But Mahipal sells him a dummy down the river and does not run at all! Poor Samson has nowhere to go as he is almost within handshaking distance. Prithvi Shaw returns a direct hit at the striker’s end and Pant has nothing to do there.
16:20 hrs IST
Brilliant from Ishant
BOWLED! What a delivery from Ishant Sharma. A well disguised off-cutter completely foxes Liam Livingstone. He was through the shot even before the ball had arrived. Second wicket for Ishant. Rajasthan in some trouble now, at 20/2
16:14 hrs IST
Boult carries on with the good work
Back to back good overs from Trent Boult. Only 4 runs from the third over. He has given away only 8 runs in his two overs so far. RR: 15/1 after 3 overs.
16:09 hrs IST
Ishant gets Rahane
Rahane departs. Ishant strikes in his very first over. Rahane’s does not stay long in this must win battle for Rajasthan. Good length ball on the pads, Rahane looks to flick it but he is early in his shit and the ball flies to deep square leg. Shikhar Dhawan stationed there takes a good catch coming in.
16:07 hrs IST
SIX from Livingstone
SHOT! Superb from Liam Livingstone, comes down the track and hits Ishant Sharma over mid-wicket for the first six of the match. How will Ishant respond now?
16:04 hrs IST
Great start from Boult
Brilliant first over from Trent Boult. He was right on the money, did not give any room whatsoever to the RR opening pair of Rahane and Livingstone. RR: 4/0 after 1
15:58 hrs IST
All set
Trent Boult will start the proceedings for Delhi Capitals and Ajinkya Rahane will face the music for Rajasthan Royals. Here we go!

What the captains said
“It’s an important game for us, we need to have a mindset of playing every game as a knock-out match, we are in a good mood as a team. Our batsmen love to bat on good bouncy wickets, this been a slow wicket - we didn’t expect it, but we can’t blame the wickets for our poor show here,” said Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer.
We will bat first. The wicket looks dry, not sure how it will play, might get slower and slower, will look to put the runs on the board. For me, the team comes first, I respect their decisions, it’s a great challenge and it’s important to play well and win,” said Rajasthan Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane.
