Dhoni’s home, but quite alone

This time, he got home earlier than expected, after the last two ODIs against England were called off due to the terror attacks in Mumbai.

"There are certain disadvantages attached with celebrity status. And Mahi is no exception," said Sanjay Pandey, Dhoni's friend and manager of the U-19 Jharkhand team.

Shadowed by heavy security, Dhoni could only pay short visits to his under-construction house on a sprawling 5,000 sq feet land in Harmu.

"He could not even visit the government offices for clearance of his gun licence, which once turned out to be a major issue. Dhoni had surprised many when he visited the Ranchi Regional Development Authority office to get the map of his house passed," recalled one of his friends.

And given the free spirit Dhoni is—how often have we heard about him riding down to his friends' places—the Indian skipper would be grumbling at the restrictions curbing his freedom.

But then this is perhaps not too big a price to pay for the stardom he enjoys.
