'I will take more time here': Resurgent Shaw determined to make of his opportunities during India vs Sri Lanka series
India vs Sri Lanka, 1st ODI: Prithvi Shaw, returning to the national side after seven months, said he is determined to play according to the format and situation.
Prithvi Shaw is back into the India team after seven months. After being dropped from the Test side in December 2020, during the Test series against Australia Down Under, the youngster is set to feature in the first ODI vs Sri Lanka in Colombo.

Ahead of the toss on Sunday, while speaking to the broadcaster, Shaw opened up about the competition within the India team.
"India always have competition, there are a lot of brilliant players in the country and you have to keep scoring consistently to be on the top. It's like a family sometimes you don't score runs and you sit out," said Mumbai-born Shaw.
Shaw received heavy criticism for his technique during his poor patch. However, the right-hander is determined to play according to the situation and format.
"T20 is something different and ODIs you have a lot of time to assess the situation and play accordingly. I will take more time here, absolutely different in this format," said Shaw.
Focus, in this series, is on a lot of players but it is also on India's coach for this series, Rahul Dravid. The batting legend, who has been coaching the India A side, has been sent to Sri Lanka in the absence of Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri, who are busy preparing for the England Tests.
While talking about the experience of having the India batting legend in the same dressing room as his coach, Shaw said: " It's always lovely to work under Rahul Sir, we had him as a coach for the U-19 team and A team. so whatever experience he shares we are mentally prepared for it."
Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat. Shikhar Dhawan-led India handed debut caps to middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav and wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan. Moreover, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav were also named in the playing XI for the first time since the 2019 World Cup.
Shaw has only played 3 ODIs so far, scoring 80 runs. He is yet to score a 50-plus score in this format and last featured in one against New Zealand in February 2020.
