India vs England 1st ODI Highlights: Ravindra Jadeja hit the winning runs

India vs England 1st ODI Highlights: Shubman Gill missed out on a century but his knocks, along with those of Axar Patel and Shreyas Iyer helped India hand England a drubbing in the first ODI in Nagpur. India lost three quick wickets late in the chase and that brought down their margin of victory to four wickets but they got past the target of 249 with more than 11 overs to spare.

Gill fell on 87 off 96 just when it started looking like the competition would be whether he gets to the century before India finish their chase. Earlier, Axar Patel raced past his third ODI half-century before he was abruptly dismissed by Adil Rashid against the run of play. He fell on 52 off 47 and his stand with Gill ended on 108 off 107 balls. Gill cruised past his 14th ODI half-century in just 60 balls while Axar simply continued where Shreyas Iyer left off after the latter fell for 59 off just 36 balls. Iyer and Gill put up a blistering stand of 94 off 64 balls for the second wicket, thus negating any advantage England may have gained after they dismissed openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal within the first six overs.

The partnership between Gill and Iyer soared past 50 in just 28 balls, with the latter making sure to deposit every short ball that he got from the pacers to the boundary. England are defending a fairly low target of 249 and so Iyer and Gill's onslaught severely dented their chances of taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

England captain Jos Buttler and Jacob Bethell both scored half-centuries but couldn't go much further as India dismissed the visitors for 248 runs in 47.4 overs. Debutant Harshit Rana and Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets each. Buttler was holding the shaky England innings together and brought up his half-century in 58 balls. However, he perished soon thereafter with a clinical India starving England for runs in the first ODI in Nagpur. The visitors were left wobbling with Jadeja landing a big blow in the form of the wicket of Joe Root in the 19th over. England were off to a rocket start, only for it all to come undone somewhat as they lost three wickets in eight balls. It all started with Phil Salt wandering down the pitch for a third run without looking at what his partner Ben Duckett was doing and being run-out, thus bringing to an end a 75-run opening stand that came in just 53 balls.

Harshit Rana then picked two wickets in the next over after having conceded 26 runs in his previous one. Duckett fell third ball thanks to a brilliant catch from Yashasvi Jaiswal. Harry Brook's forgettable form continued on this tour as he was strangled down the leg side last ball of that over. It was then down to captain Jos Buttler and Joe Root to do a rebuilding job.

India vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: OUT! Two in the over for Rana, Brook's horror tour continues!

India vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: A half-hearted pull from Brook to deal with the short ball. In fact it ended up beoing a half-hearted jab, he never went through with the shot. It takes the glove and Rahul takes a sharp catch down the leg side. What a comeback for Rana!

India vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: GONE! STUNNING CATCH FROM JAISWAL!

India vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: The debutants have assembled to dismiss Duckett here and all of a sudden, England's good start is coming undone. Hard length from Rana, dug in, Duckett goes for the pull but he hasn't quite on his backfoot completely for it. It goes up in the air, Jaiswal at midwicket sprints back, it comes down over his shoulder and he dives, takes the catch mid-air and then clings on once he clatters down on the ground. Incredible stuff.

India vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: OUT! Mix-up out of nowhere and Salt is run out!

India vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Hara-kiri! Implosion! Just when projected scores of 480 and 500 were being shown on broadcast. Hardik Pandya brought in to bowl the ninth over. The fifth ball is a length delivery that goes past Iyer at backward point. The fielder gives chase and picks the ball just before it reaches the boundary. Duckett seems to have thought it reached the rope, Salt came leisurely halfway down the track for the easy third, his eyes totally on the fielder and not on his partner. Then he sees to his horror that Duckett hasn't moved an inch, turns around and tries to get back but it's too late. Rahul flicks off the bails. Dozy cricket ends a blistering opening partnereship.

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: 15 runs in the 8th! England racing along!

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Salt and Duckett just laying into Axar Patel here. The spinner replaced Harshit Rana but it has been the same result for now. The first ball is sent straight back down the ground for a four by Salt. Misfield from Rohit second ball allows the batters a single. Then comes that Duckett sweep through backward square leg for another boundary. He then brings out the reverse sweep and that goes one bounce four. Two singles after that, Salt is on 40 off 24 in an ODI match. Duckett on 30 off 24... in an ODI match.

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: 26 off Harshit's over, Salt getting into it!

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: A quiet start but now a brutal one as Salt takes Harshit for 26 in the sixth over, including three sixes. The last one is the most authoritative, pulled in front of square for a big maximum.

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Runs coming thick and fast now

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Somewhat chancey from England's openers, but 24 runs in 5 deliveries as Duckett and Salt begin to free their arms. Not very convincing, with a couple of top edges and an uppish drive, but the runs are coming for England now.

Feb 6, 2025, 13:54:34 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Half-chance, but Duckett survives!

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Shami nearly gets Duckett as the opener looks to up the ante! After a four through extra-cover after stepping out, Duckett looks to go over mid-on but doesn't get all of it. A slight misread by Hardik, who can't quite get to it with a leaping effort.

26/0 after 5, and concerningly, Shami walks off the field…

Feb 6, 2025, 13:48:17 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Harshit comes back well, another maiden

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Solid response by Harshit after a couple of boundaries in the previous over. Keeps it tight against Salt, a much better line bowled by him. Strong maiden over from the youngster.

17/0 through four overs.

Feb 6, 2025, 13:45:18 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Good start by Shami

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: India will be happy with what Shami has provided so far with the new ball. Keeping it tight, extracting just a little bit of movement off the pitch. Beaten the bat of both Salt and Duckett a couple of times in his first couple of overs.

Feb 6, 2025, 13:42:46 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: England ticking along now

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Quiet start but England finding value for their shots, as Duckett drives Shami down the ground for four before a clip off his legs for a couple.

The ball not doing much so far, but as we say that, one which beats Duckett on the outside edge. Shami looking very good so far, speed in the 130-135 range.

Feb 6, 2025, 13:39:51 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Salt goes bang, couple of boundaries

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Salt puts the pressure on his young former KKR teammate. Couple of boundaries to close out the over, neither are very convincing but still find the fence. First through covers, next over midwicket.

11/0 after 2.

Feb 6, 2025, 13:37:02 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Harshit gets second new ball on debut

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Harshit Rana with the second new ball from the other end, fresh off a three-fer against England in the fifth T20I in Mumbai. Starts off around the stumps to Duckett with a couple of dots, but the first runs for England as the openers run 3.

Feb 6, 2025, 13:35:16 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Maiden over first up from Shami

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Accurate from the off by Shami. Beats Salt a couple of times, swings one in which the opener fends off, before he flashes at the final delivery and finds Jadeja at point on the bounce.

Exactly the start Shami wanted on his return. 0/0 after 1.

Feb 6, 2025, 13:33:01 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Mohammed Shami gets us underway!

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Here we go then! Mohammed Shami steaming in on his return as he always does, and Phil Salt facing up to him against the new ball. A play and a miss early, the VCA Stadium asking for an early wicket to really get them going.

Feb 6, 2025, 13:28:34 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Rare injury absence for Virat Kohli, first since 2022

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Virat Kohli isn't often injured, regularly available for the Indian team and extremely committed to his fitness. This is the first time since the Johannesburg Test in January 2022 that Kohli will be missing an international match through an injury, with the knee issue sustained on the eve of the match.

Thankfully for fans, it seems it is a minor issue, and Kohli will be expected to return to action for the second match in Cuttack.

Feb 6, 2025, 13:20:29 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: England's bat-first gamble

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Deep Dasgupta and Graeme Swann predicted the Nagpur surface, with dew likely in the evening, to be one where both teams would want to chase. Buttler opted to bat, however, and Rohit looked fairly happy to have his spinners be operating with the sun beating down.

England will look for quick runs against a rusty Shami and a raw Harshit to start with, while the Axar-Jadeja-Kuldeep trio will be asked to shut down the scoring by their captain in the middle overs.

Feb 6, 2025, 13:10:38 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: KL Rahul plays, Arshdeep, Chakravarthy miss out

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Will be interesting to see who bats three for India in Kohli's absence, but big calls made elsewhere as well. KL Rahul chosen over Rishabh Pant in Nagpur, while both Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja play as spin-bowling all-rounders.

Kuldeep and Shami back from injury, but Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy miss out.

India playing XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami

Feb 6, 2025, 13:04:25 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: England choose to bat, Virat Kohli misses out through injury

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Jos Buttler calls correctly, and somewhat surprisingly chooses to bat on this surface. Three seamers for the visitors, and Rohit claims that he would have bowled first on this surface. Good toss to lose for India?

Rohit confirms debuts for Jaiswal and Harshit Rana, and it will be Virat Kohli who misses out with a knee issue. Only the two seamers for India.

Feb 6, 2025, 13:00:13 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Big news as Jaiswal, Rana earn ODI caps

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: A surprise right before toss, as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Harshit Rana receive caps in the huddle, from Gambhir and Shami respectively.

Shubman Gill being replaced? One of Arshdeep or Shami missing out? A big decision being made by Gambhir to hand out a pair of debuts when many saw this as a fine-tuning exercise more than anything else. The toss will tell all, happening now.

Feb 6, 2025, 12:50:30 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: India's possible combination

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Ahead of the toss, India will be looking at making sure they read the pitch well and choose the correct combination — likely what an intense Rohit-Kohli-Gambhir trio was discussing.

Which three spinners will play out of the five? Do you go with three all-rounders as Gambhir seems to prefer? Which of the two wicketkeepers gets the nod?

Feb 6, 2025, 12:40:16 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: England's announced XI for first ODI

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: No major surprises in England's lineup for the first ODI, with Jos Buttler dropping into the middle order and Joe Root slotting in at 3. They bat deep and have plenty of bowling with this combination.

Phil Salt (wk), Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell, Brydon Carse, Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer, Saqib Mahmood

Feb 6, 2025, 12:30:20 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Is Hardik the most important piece for India?

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Hardik Pandya’s successful return to bowling means he might be the single most important player in any Indian team he plays in. It was there to see in the World Cup: although India were still good when he had to withdraw from an injury, there was just that one little weakness that, on the wrong day, was exploited.

Hardik averages mid-30s with both bat and ball in the ODI format, which is more or less exactly what you want from your number six and sixth bowler, especially if they are capable of batting at a quick rate and turning it up with boundary-hitting. The glue that holds this Indian team together, even the recent concerns regarding his relatively slow starts in T20 cricket will be dulled in the 50-over format.

Feb 6, 2025, 12:20:06 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: A new responsibility for Arshdeep Singh

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Arshdeep Singh has developed into a true leader of the Indian pace attack in the shortest format — but this ODI game is a whole different kettle of fish, 10 overs compared to 4, and less protection on the boundary for vast spells. If the Bumrah situation isn’t resolved, Arshdeep likely plays every match in the Champions Trophy.

Those are big, big shoes to fill. Supremely talented, fantastic under pressure, and consistently improving as a bowler, it is still a tough ask of Arshdeep — but this series will provide a solid indication of whether he is cut out for it heading into a tournament environment.

Feb 6, 2025, 12:10:42 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Gambhir gears up for first ICC tournament

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: This is only coach Gautam Gambhir’s second ODI series, the previous having been a disappointing loss on his first tour in Sri Lanka. There were question marks over Gambhir’s appointment given his relative inexperience, with further alarm bells being rung following his disappointments in Test cricket last year.

Gambhir will want his Indian T20I team’s form and dominance to translate to the 50-over game, with his style of ultra-aggressive batting from the top fitting in well with what Rohit Sharma himself wants in ODI cricket. A decision might have to be made if they can’t put the pieces of the puzzle together, however, on both fronts.

Feb 6, 2025, 12:00:24 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Shubman Gill must step up

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: 2025 marks the year in which Shubman Gill must graduate from a star of the future to a leader in the now. Now 25 years old, his talent is beyond reproach, but there is no question that the stylish batter will feel the pressure from Yashasvi Jaiswal in the wings, as well as the likes of Abhishek Sharma not far behind.

Gill loves batting in Asian conditions, and is expected to have a good ODI swing. A couple of flowing cover drives to ease the nerves could signal the start of a good year for him.

Feb 6, 2025, 11:50:44 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: … or do they stick with KL Rahul?

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Perhaps given a too-harsh proportion of the blame for a reconstruction job that went slightly awry, KL Rahul is looking for redemption in ODI cricket. If there is one word that can be used to describe KL, it is polarising: you feel extremely strongly about his position in the team, whether that be wanting him to stay or wanting him to be dropped.

Whichever side of the line you fall on, the fact is that a batter of KL’s quality will always be in the scheme of things for Indian cricket. The question is whether he can finally give his supporters a string of performances that elevates him to the status that his quality says he should be at.

Feb 6, 2025, 11:41:40 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Is Rishabh Pant India's plan at wicketkeeper…

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Rishabh Pant will have extremely fond memories of the last time he suited up for India in a one-day match against England. His 125* in Manchester, before his accident, remains his sole ODI century, and an extremely memorable and high-quality one at that. Pant’s accident came at a time when he finally looked to be cracking ODI cricket, and as one of those characters who all Indian fans love to see well, there is no batter a supporter would rather watch in full flow than the mercurial southpaw. If given the chance to play against England, can he wrestle his way into starting wicketkeeper contention for the Champions Trophy?

Feb 6, 2025, 11:30:18 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Shreyas India's middle order x-factor?

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: It says a lot about how dangerous a batter Shreyas Iyer can be that Australian captain Pat Cummins admitted he was the player that made them the most nervous in the ODI World Cup final. Capable of using a strong platform to take a 300-total to touching 400, or just as capable of reconstructing an innings through the middle overs, Iyer is India’s x-factor in the ODI game.

He does, however, have a history of struggling against express pace, which is something England have no shortage of. Will we get the Shreyas Iyer who is made to hop around the crease, or the one who stands and delivers towering sixes? England will know which one they would rather see.

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Some more stats

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Stats always make for fun engagement, so here's more to capture your interest level. India's highest score against England reads a mammoth 387/5 at Rajkot, where Yuvraj pummelled another hundred.

Their lowest total, though, is 132/3 in the 1975 World Cup. England's highest score of 366/8 came in a losing cause eight years ago in Cuttack, which by the way, is the venue for the 2nd ODI on Sunday.

That will be the 54th ODI played between India and England in India. India have won 34 out of the 52 ODIs against England that have been played on their home soil.

Feb 6, 2025, 11:10:20 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: What's up with Rohit Sharma's 'future'?

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Yesterday began with a report suggesting that the BCCI has urged Rohit Sharma to return to them after deciding his future. The board has reportedly given Rohit time until the end of the Champions Trophy so that they can outline the team, its captain, and the roadmap heading ahead.

However, by evening, Rohit himself had quashed those reports, making it clear that his focus is currently on the three ODIs against England and, subsequently, the Champions Trophy. Those within the know-of-things believe that the more Rohit refuses these reports, the more likely they are to be true – be it him not playing the SCG Test or making a call about his future.

Feb 6, 2025, 11:00:19 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Which brings us to the question…

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Do India have enough pacers? Bumrah's status is unknown. Shami has played just two internationals in the last 14 months, and Arshdeep has only 8 ODIs to show for. Of course, India have Hardik Pandya to rely on, but when it comes to front-line pacers, they got only three options with the rookie Harshit Rana as back-up.

Agree, India will play all their CT matches in Dubai, but even for a surface that tends to get as sluggish as the Dubai Sports City Cricket Stadium, three pacers may be a tad less. If Bumrah is fit, there's absolutely no reason to worry, but in case he doesn't – which seems more likely with every passing day, the fast-bowling stocks appear just a tad weaker.

Feb 6, 2025, 10:50:22 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Mohammed Shami's time to shine!

Mohammed Shami, the leading wicket-taker from the 2023 World Cup, will play his first ODI since November 19. That's 15 months away from playing cricket for India. When he was given just two chances in the T20Is, where he went wicketless in one and grabbed three in another, it felt as if he is yet to recover fully.

However, as time went by, the move made more sense. In Bumrah's absence, Shami has to shoulder the bulk of India's bowling responsibilities. And for that, neither Shami nor India can risk losing the fast bowler, especially with the Champions Trophy looking large.

Feb 6, 2025, 10:40:15 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: What are England's realistic chances of winning against India?

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: England were the 2019 World Champions. But a lot of water has flown under the bridge since then. There is something immensely wrong with how they play the ODIs these days. Since the 2023 World Cup, England have played 11 ODIs, only to win 4 and lose to West Indies and Australia.

In the 50-overs format, England find themselves in the same boat as they did 10 years ago in 2015. Playing a somewhat outdated style of cricket. And since India know they only have three ODIs to fine-tune their preparations ahead of the CT, Rohit and his men start as outright favourites.

Feb 6, 2025, 10:30:05 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Don't forget Joe Root!

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Look who's back! Joe Root, the former England captain, is back to play his first ODI for England in 13 months. Root, who hasn't played for England since their ouster in the 2023 World Cup, hopes to join their bandwagon of aggressive batters.

Root has had decent exposure playing T20 cricket for the Paarl Royals in the ongoing SA20, and coach Brendon McCullum and captain Jos Buttler would be hoping that the experienced Root can use his time in South Africa to good effect in India.

Expected to be back at his usual No. 3 spot, Root would want to extend his solid record against India, which currently stands at 739 runs from 20 innings at an average of 43.47.

Feb 6, 2025, 10:20:13 IST

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Exit Jasprit Bumrah

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Can someone please tell us what in the world is going on with Jasprit Bumrah? Ever since he injured his back in the Sydney Test against Australia last month, the BCCI has remained tight-lipped about the extent of his injury and recovery.

Chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar named him in the England ODI squad but silently removed him from it as well on Wednesday evening, while mentioning Chakravarthy's inclusion. A report claims he has headed to the NCA and that an official verdict is expected over the next 7 days, but nothing has been made official yet. Even captain Rohit Sharma remained coy about it, keeping his 'fingers crossed'.

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Enter Varun Chakravarthy

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Can you blame the Indian think-tank for including Varun Chakravarthy in their ODI squad after his splendid show against England in the T20Is? He was unplayable for most English batters, including captain Jos Butter and finished the series with 14 wickets, including a best of 5/24. Yes, five wickets in a T20I. Incredible stuff.

The ICC even rewarded the guy as he achieved a career-best No. 2 ranking for T20I bowlers. However, given he was a last-minute inclusion, whether he goes on to make the cut in India's 11 isn't guaranteed. With Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav already expected to be part of the Playing XI, Chakravarthy might have to wait, just for this one perhaps.

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: How's the Nagpur weather holding up

Don't worry. There isn't much to worry about. It is bright, it is sunny and it's going to be quite warm. There are absolutely no chances of rain, so you can rule out the weather playing any dampener in the series opener.

Expect a bit of a cool breeze somewhere around 7PM, just about the start of the second innings but barring that, a typical Maharashtra kind of weather awaits both these teams.

Thankfully for Team India, rain has stayed away in this limited-overs series. The T20Is were successfully completed without any weather interruption and a similar prediction is expected out of the three ODIs.

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Not only ODIs, today marks Rohit and Kohli’s returns too

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the two pillars of Indian cricket, find themselves in a very uncomfortable position. They don't have runs behind them, and neither is their place in the Indian team… well, let's just say, out of danger. The Australia Tests didn't go as per the plan and the New Zealand series before it was a forgettable chapter in itself.

Both turned up for Ranji Trophy too, hoping to get some form, but disappointment followed them there too. But the good news is that today, Rohit and Kohli return to the format they are most suited to – the ODIs. Take out Sri Lanka and both have been in rollicking form in the 50-overs format.

Gosh, do India need them to score runs in these coming three games?

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Leading wicket-taker in India vs England ODIs

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: If Indians lead the charts in batting, England aren't far behind. James Anderson has been the highest wicket-taker in India-England ODIs, with 40 of them from 31 games, followed by Ravindra Jadeja at No. 2 with 39 scalps. The maverick Andrew Flintoff takes the third place, having taken 37 Indian wickets from 30 matches, with a best of 5/56.

However, the best bowling-figures in India-England ODIs belong to Jasprit Bumrah – 6/19 at the Oval in 2022, followed by Ashish Nehra's legendary 6/23 at Durban during the 2003 World Cup. Reece Topley is in here too, his 6/24 at Lord's wrecked the Indian batting line-up.

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Who is the leading run-scorer in India vs England ODIs?

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Think of all the legendary names that have represented India and England against each other, and yet, the list of the leading run-scorers is led by Indian batters. Right at the top is MS Dhoni, with 1546 runs from 48 matches, followed by Yuvraj Singh with 1523 runs in 37 games – Oh, he loved batting against England.

Yuvraj, in fact, also brags about registering the highest individual score in India vs England ODIs – 150 in Cuttack 2017, his last hundred for India. For a change, Sachin Tendulkar takes the No. 3 spot, but he too had a fabulous record against England, with 1455 runs from 36 games.

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: India vs England – H2H record

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Well, well, well. India are far ahead of England on this. The two teams have played a total of 107 ODIs to date, with India leading 58-42. Of course, the last time these two teams battled in ODIs was the 2023 World Cup, where India reigned supreme by 110 runs in Lucknow. Since first playing each other in the first time in 1974, India and England have been part of some memorable encounters – the 1983 World Cup semifinal, all seven matches during the 2007 and a personal favourite of this writer – the NatWest 2002 final. With such a heavy legacy involved, what will the fresh chapter throw up? Let's find out.

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: When did India last play ODI?

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: Well, it's been a while. Actually, quite a while. In fact, it has been 183 days since Team India last played an ODI – against Sri Lanka on August 7. It was the series that India lost 0-3 and one which marked Gambhir's tough start. He began his stint by winning the T20Is 3-0, but a drubbing in ODIs gave Sri Lanka their first bilateral series win over India in 28 years. Almost three decades. The players have since focussed their energy on a gruelling long Test season, while the youngsters embarked on beating South Africa in Africa and, just a few days ago, England. However, with three ODIs lined up just ahead of the CT, the experienced campaigners return, and with it, the hope that India can return victorious.

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: HOLA!

India Vs England LIVE SCORE, 1st ODI: After months of T20 and Test cricket, the familiar ODIs are back. You don't see too many ODIs these days, do you? Especially in Indian cricket, which was dominated by either the razzmatazz of T20 cricket, and the old grind of Test cricket across the last 7-8 months. Nonetheless, it's time for the 50-overs to grace us, as the ICC Champions Trophy awaits, and India's road to Dubai go through England, who are on the lookout for revenge after their 4-1 drubbing in T20Is. The venue is Nagpur and the time, 2 PM. India. England and the good old ODIs is what we're talking about.
