Haseeb Hameed (15*) and Rory Burns (3*) have looked comfortable from the get-go. They are happy to take quick singles apart from occasional boundaries.

Rory Burns flicks the ball off his pads to deep square leg to get off the mark immediately and it was also a no ball.

When Virat Kohli (finally) won the toss, this is not the scoreline he would have envisioned. England have come back into the series with a sense of purpose and their will is already yielding results. A horrible first innigs for India.

Wow, what just happened? India have lost 4 wickets for the same score in the 10 minutes.

No hat-trick for Curran as Siraj manages to get an inside edge onto his pads. England reviewed it but again, even they knew it was not-out.

Siraj backs away and thumps the ball down the ground. He gets off the mark with a couple.

OUT! Ravindra Jadeja is caught plumb by a Sam Curran yorker.

He is gone 4. Jadeja reviews it but even he knows he is out and the replays confirm it

OUT! Bumrah is gone next ball for a golden duck. The ball pitches on length and nips back in sharply. Bumrah has no answers to that one. They take the review but it was more of a formality

OUT! And next ball, Mohammed Shami is caught by Rory Burns in the slip cordon. He goes back to the hut for a golden duck as he Craig Overton picks up his second wicket

OUT! Rohit Sharma mistimes a pull-shot and he is gone for 19. He falls to a nothing short really. Looks to pull Overton but there is no timing on it. The ball balloons to Robinson at short mid-on. His long haul comes to an end

Left-arm medium-pacer Sam Curran has been handed the ball once again.

Rohit Sharma has shown great patience and defense so far. This time, to Overton, he edges to ball towards Bairstow at second slip. The ball, however, did not carry but the Englishman did well to hold onto the ball.

Also, Joe Root is back on the field. In the first session, he had walked out after being struck on the hand in the slips.

OUT! This time, he is gone. Rishabh Pant pokes at a delivery short and outside of off. He flashes at it and only manages to nick the ball to Jos Buttler.

MIX-UP BUT SAFE! It all happened there and rather comically. Rohit Sharma inside-egded the third ball of the over. The ball rolled behind the stumps and Pant charged down the wicket for a quick single. Sharma sent him back and Buttler managed to collect the ball quickly. As soon as Pant began scurrying back, Buttler had a shy at the stumps, forcing Overton to duck out of the way. The ball struck Pant on the arm while he was diving back to safety.

Pant survives! Earlier in the over, Pant leaned into a drive, the bat twisted in his hands and the ball fell just short of Rory Burns at point, who put in a fantastic full-length dive to stop the ball from running down to the boundary.

Two balls later, Robinson beat Pant's outside edge.

On the last ball of the innings, he struck on his pads but England's LBW appeal was turned down

The second session begins with Rishabh Pant facing the final delivery of the 26th over. He gets himself off the mark immediately off the first ball with a flick off his pads to deep square-leg.

Right then! It's time for the second session of the day. Rohit Sharma, unbeaten on 15, is joined by Rishabh Pant in the middle as India begin the second session at 56/4.

And that was the last ball of the session as the teams break for lunch. The first session belongs to the home team. After a fine spell of seam bowling in the first hour by James Anderson, Sharma and Rahane tried to steady the ship. However, Robinson struck at the stroke of lunch to dent India further.
